Bracelets: a tutorial

This project is inspired by one of my first pins. Credit goes to that first pinner out there who saw it and realized they could make it themselves.

Do you use Pinterest? It's funny how a site filled with such creativity can make me feel so un-creative. Like everything has been done before and no matter how great I think my idea is, chances are, someone has already done it. But maybe that's okay. I suppose creativity isn't defined by originality. And at the same time it makes me happy that such a creative network is growing on the web. That as a viewer, you can search just about anything + "tutorial"and find a step-by-step guide. What a long way we've come since our grandmother's generation of seamstresses.

Anyway, you can find me here on Pinterest if you'd like to see my other pins.

Materials:

Embroidery Floss

Beads (optional)

Hollow Charms like these:

Tutorial:

Cut 2 18" lengths of thread. Pinch the middle of one thread and pull it through the charm.

Then take the ends of the string and pull it through the loop.

Pull tight and repeat.

Cut and tie off ends with a bead.

Make a bunch more!

I almost threw my largest gold hoop away, before twisting it into this neat infinity shape. This one may actually be my fave now!

Wouldn't these be great bracelets to make and sell for a cause? Especially with that "believe" circle charm that I used. My supplies (from Hobby Lobby) were relatively inexpensive. Maybe you could even find some wholesale charms somewhere on the web?

Enjoy!

  5. What a great idea! I actually have a friend who is battling Ocular Melanoma (a rare form of cancer that my husband also has), & her blog is titled Love x Infinity Squared & sorta looks like this: [♥ x ∞]2
    Anyways, she uses the infinity symbol ~ so to make bracelets like that & sell them for her/our cause is super cool! Thanks for suggesting it & showing such great tutorials! {btw, I discovered you thru pinterest!}

  9. Love the tutorial also. I would also like to find that apple charm. It would make great teacher gifts. How do you tie it on your wrist?

  10. The apple charm is from an old necklace of mine. I think it was from Francescas Collection's. And I just tied with a double knot around my wrists. You can always change out the thread if you need to take it off for something (:

Tomorrow Im also posting on washer pendants that I've also made bracelets out of that also look similar to yours.

Please pop over and visit me - I would love you to see my bracelet too.

Another place to think about finding charms is yard sales. Re-purpose jewelry inexpensively.

Can't wait to get started on these!

  19. You are right, I do sometimes feel a lot less creative WHILE being inspired on Pintrest!! I love these bracelets and can't wait to make them for gifts for people! I think that using letter beads at the end for initials or kids names could make these even more personal - love all of your crafts :-)

  21. Sure, it's possible that someone else did bracelets like these first... but so what? That doesn't make them any less cute, or mean that you are any less creative!! You go ahead and make whatever you come up with and post it; people will always be happy to see what you've made!! :-)
