Whoops, is it already September?

Womp, womp, womp...still no projects to show.

I was actually knee deep in a project that I'm really excited to share with you when this happened:

Yep that's my pedal broken in two. I was rearranging it behind the desk and somehow dropped in just the wrong way. Because I'm using such an old machine it's tough to find spare parts. I tried duct taping it back together but figured that wasn't such a good idea when I smelt smoke and saw sparks inside the pedal....I'd rather not be electrocuted. I did find a pedal on Ebay that *cross my fingers* hopefully works for my machine. I'm hoping to get that in a couple of days so I can work on some projects this weekend. It's funny how much I want to sew when I know I can't. Lately I've been getting a real itch to  quilt, especially after perusing this blog. I'm usually more of an instant gratification sewer, but the idea of working long and hard on a quilt sounds really appealing. Maybe it's that the weather seems to finally be cooling down. In Texas, we get really excited for that.

But here's some of what I've been up to lately. I got my Aggie ring this past weekend! Getting your ring at Texas A&M is a really big deal. I'm a first generation Aggie so I am so proud to be the first in my family to wear the sacred gold ring. Next stop, graduation.

A close up, but not so well-focused shot of the ring:

Brandon made it in town to see me get the ring. Man they weren't kidding, this long distance relationship thing is not easy. I miss this guy so much! Of course there is a certain amount of excitement that comes with being apart for so long. We've never really had the chance to truly miss one another before.

Also, I made my first batch of Pumpkin Muffins for the season. I took everybody's suggestion and used spice cake and chocolate chips this time. WOW they're good. Y'all were right, the spice cake really brings out the pumpkin flavor in a different way.

And let's just end this post with a cute picture of my dog, you know just for good measure. (;

Congratulations on earning your Aggie ring! I'm class of 2009 and still wear mine every single day. :)

I too was a part of a long distance relationship during my junior/senior year of college. It is totally tough but definitely worth it, I think, considering we got married just over a year ago.

And as far as the sewing machine pedal goes, bummer! I too have an older machine and never even really considered what it would be like to find replacement parts. ha! Can't wait to see what you have been working on when it's fixed :)

Congrats on your Aggie Ring! I remember being very excited to get mine after waiting for so long to get it! I'm class of 2008!

I had the same problem with the pedal of my very old Singer machine. My repairman kept the wire and attached a standard pedal at the end. Might solve your problem too!

Good luck,
Karin

I'm from New Zealand and have no idea what an Aggie ring is. Could someone please explain? It's really pretty. And total bugger about your foot pedal!
P.s. love your blog, I'm a 23 year old patchwork and quilter for 10+ years and love what you do. Check out mine and my mothers quilting shop donnasquiltstudio.co.nz :-)

Congrats! Getting that Ring is so awesome, isn't it?!!!!!! I'm a member of the Class of '97 - and I still wear mine every day too! It makes me so proud to know that my hubby and I worked so hard to earn them, especially because we started a family while in school! Now, my son is planning on attending A&M next Fall! WHOOP!

Congrats on your ring! My mom makes those pumpkin muffins all the time, and they are sooooo delicious. They're always gone in less than a week!

Congrats on your aggie ring!! I graduate in December! And let me tell you, Senior Methods was BY FAR the easiest semester EVER! So enjoy it girlfriend! Student teaching is hard to enjoy when there is so much work to be done. Good luck!! WH12P!

bummer about the pedal, but congrats on getting your Aggie ring! We didn't get those at UF, but I remember how exciting it was to be a senior and know I was "almost a grownup!" :)

My boyfriend and I are doing long distance too for my Junior and Senior years of college. Stay positive :) We're in this together.

Being a Florida Gator, I'll admit that it was sweet watching our team beat yours, especially after all the smack y'all talked! ;) Really though, I've followed this blog basically since it's birth and really admire all the work that you do. You've inspired me in ways you cannot know - I bought my first sewing machine and sewed my first pillow because of you! As for the long distance thing, I've done that AND made it out happily! The most important thing to remember is to not take your frustration with being apart out on each other, something I struggled with immensely. Skype is good and Facetime is even better. When my boyfriend left for school and I was back in our hometown, I used to go to our favorite places back home and Facetime him from there :) best of luck to you in your last year of school and all that you do!

I never seem to want to sew as much when I should be finishing a project as when there are 1000 other things I should be doing! Keeping my fingers crossed that your pedal works!
