Thanks for stopping by Sweet Verbena. My name is Katy. I'm an elementary school teacher in the DFW area and graduate of Texas A&M. I'm married to my high-school sweetheart, Brandon. What I really like to do is create. My sweet grandmother passed her old cabinet style Kenmore Model 43 sewing machine down to me and thus the obsession began.
I first discovered craft/sewing blogs in early 2010, which opened my eyes to a whole new world of sewing. I saw what amazing, beautiful things that you can create all on your own and in doing so, save a whole lot of money! I've learned so much from the authors of these wonderful blogs, and now I feel it's my turn to sort of give back and share my own ideas and projects.
My Goals for Sweet Verbena:
Inspire- I hope this blog inspires and empowers you to believe that you can sew and create. You really can make your own stylish, 100% original clothes (that no one else will have). Please know that I am by no means an expert, I am still learning myself, I make mistakes, and you can too.
Catalog- Sweet Verbena is a way for me to catalog my own projects and to share fellow crafter's inspiring work as well. While I expect this blog to be primarily focused on sewing/crafting/cooking, I'm sure that some of my personal life will work its way in as well. I see Sweet Verbena following me through the major events of my life and I can't wait to see how it develops in years to come.
Network- I hope this blog will enable me to connect with other lovely ladies who enjoy creating as well. Please never hesitate to get in touch with me. I would love to chat with you!
