There are so many great ways to fancy up a t-shirt. Momma go round shares some beautiful refashions. This yellow flutter shirt is my favorite.
I found this great lace tape at a Fabric Warehouse store. At only $.99 yard, I stocked up!
Then I caught a glimpse of Rashida Jones in I Love you Man wearing this cute lace embellished top and I thought, I could totally make my own.
So I found a tee at my usual go-to store, Target, and got to work!
A wordless tutorial:
Note: When sewing with knit, use a zig-zag stitch. It allows the fabric to stretch better than a straight stitch. |
Easy as that! And oh so pretty.
Have a wonderful day!

I LOVE your lace shirt refashion!! It's so cute. You lucked out on finding such a cute roll of lace. Nicely done!
So lovely & elegant! Doesn't break the bank either, but you couldn't tell that by looking! Great tutorial!
So cute! I love it-it looks adorable on you. And your hair is so pretty! That's exactly the sort of wavy look I'd always try to do back when my hair was long . . . and fail miserably at ;-)
I love this! Good job!

Wow! Amazing tuts you've got on here :D Newest follower!
This is fantastic!!!! I am going to Target tomorrow!
Ok, so after searching and searching for a similar lace tape and muttering frustration under my breath in the stores, lol, I finally decided I would use two pieces of lace back to back to attempt to make a semi-symmetrical lace appearance. I gave you credit for the amazing idea of course (thank you again!) and linked to your site on my tutorial for the shirt using two pieces of lace here, if you care to see it :-) Have a great day! http://www.thethinkingblonde.com/2011/07/diy-lace-front-t-shirt-tutorial.html
this is me, new follower, going to get some simple plain long tees, (dont wear short ones, nor jeans) and pretty lace...
I love, love, love this and want to make it - it's been sitting on my Pinterest board for a couple of weeks. I cannot find the lace though...any ideas on how to search for it?

This shirt is adorable! It would be super cute if you did the lace in the back, but cut out the fabric so it was a little bit see-through!
Darling! Love your blog!

It was cute and practical... Like I'm a Filipino and at times that we find our clothes out of fashion... we keep it in our closet.. But with your idea.. we could make any out of those clothes..
Well, that's a cute project for recycling old shirts. It would be kind of cool to use the same method for men's clothing, no? Something less cutesy would do in favor of cooler designs and whatnot...

So stinkin cute! I have way to many tees, now to go get some lace! I featured this tutorial on my blog! http://www.livecreativelynow.com/2012/05/awesome-t-shirt-refashion-tutorials.html

I was inspired by the same scene! I made a couple a few years ago and gave them out as gifts! Such a fun idea!
Found this on pinterest and LOVED it. Such a great idea and super cute tee! :D
I love the look of the lace, it's so pretty!
I used this as inspiration to add the lace in as a panel to add some room to a t shirt I bought that was way to small.
