As promised, a dog treat recipe for the dog lover's on your list. This recipe is modified from this source.
*Note* I've researched all of the ingredients in this recipe and found them to be a-ok for the average dog (Milk is okay in a baked treat such as these). However, it's always good to do your own research and be aware of your own dog's dietary restrictions.
Ingredients:
1 cup Smooth or Crunchy Peanut butter (I think I'll use smooth next time for a better dough consistency)
1 cup Milk
1 Ripe Banana
2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour (Do not use white flour)
1 tbsp Baking Powder
Recipe:
Blend together milk, banana, and peanut butter until creamy
Slowly add flour (about a 1/2 cup at a time) and blend until dough forms.
Roll out and cut shapes
Bake at 375 for 10-14 minutes
Enjoy!

I made homemade treats for my dogs and it's basically the same ingredients, plus chicken broth and a few oats for flavor and texture. I love that I can give them something slightly healthy and organic!
The last time I made dog treat, they turned out TERRIBLY! My dog didn't even really like them, and that's saying something. Haha! This recipe seems a lot more simple though so maybe I'll give it a try.

I cant wait to try this! Question though, why use wheat flour instead of white? i wanted to make these today but all i have here is white. just curious!

In my research I found that white flour isn't as safe for dogs. Not sure exactly why though!

can you use rice flour instead of wheat? my dog is in a gluten free diet as he has a sensitive stomach.
I make these all the time except I don't add the bananas..I have a bone cookie cutter that I got from pet smart and my doggies love them...

So I found this recipe on Pinterest and tried it out for my puppy. I made them about a week ago and have been keeping them in an airtight container. I noticed as of today all of them have mold on them. Should I have been refrigerating them, or do they just not last longer than a week? My dog liked them, so I'd like to make them again, but there's no point in making fifty treats if we can only use 20 before they mold. :(
