Do you have any candles that look like this?
The wick is too short to light but there's still a good inch of candle left. What a waste!
So make a new candle, why don't you?
Materials:
3 1/2" Wicks
Small glass votive holders
All my supplies were purchased at Hobby Lobby. Only $.99 for the votive holders!
Tutorial:
Heat candle. You can do this with an electronic candle heater or by using the microwave in 30 second or less intervals. I tried both and found the microwave method to be much quicker. If you use the microwave make sure to fish out the metal wick base first!
Dip the base of your wick into the melted wax. Affix it to the bottom of the glass.
Slowly and carefully pour the wax into the votive holder.
Leave the candle somewhere to set. Once it's completely cool, go ahead and trim the wick, and you're done! Quick and easy.
This is a great little project if you want to experiment with mixing scents. I combined vanilla and lemon verbena for a sweet, new scent. And what a sneaky, little gift this would be... just kidding.. probably don't do that (:
Now you can clean out the old canister with a rag and re-use it for something else!
Love when I can find a new purpose for something!

What a great idea :) They look great.
What a great idea! I have SO MANY candles I need to do this with :)
If you put the old containers in the freezer, any extra wax leftover will pop right off the sides.
this happens to me all the time, what a great idea!
What a good idea!!
love this post, and volcano candle is my all time favorite scent EVER!!!
im choosing to comment on the books in the picture over the candle haha. I LOVE time travelers wife and the hunger games SO MUCH! You've got some good reads there :)
Very clever!! And don't you just love The Time Travellers Wife! (If you did 'The little book' by Selden Edwards is also worth reading!)
Have a great weekend,
Esther.
I love this! I've always heated the wax to clean out containers but just threw the wax away! I love being able to use every bit now! Thanks :)
Love it!
I love to see that you buy second hand books, just like me :)

I have just found your blog and love your style, your tutorials are awesome and finally someone has told me about candle making - Thanks!!
I made candles when I wad in elementary school and have been think about melting my left over wax to reform candles. I was also think of using a toilet paper roll and covering the bottom then putting the wick in and pouring in the wax and peeling the roll away afterwards to make like a pillar candle
Whenever I try to do this, the candles harden with a curved top (like a U), like the miniscus of a liquid, which makes it harder to use them/ they're less pretty. Any suggestions to avoid this??

Awesome idea!! I LOVE your blog! when I tried the microwave method it caught fire after 10 seconds, so i ended up melting the wax on the stove (in a disposable pie tin, in a pan). Thanks for the tutorial!!
I dont like to waste any candle wax. I melt my wax on the stove by placing the old candle in a small pan with about an inch of water in the bottom.
I saw this post awhile back a decided to try something similar! I didn't have a candle heater but the stove top worked just as well! I made a post about it here: http://laurenhooddesign.wordpress.com/2013/02/02/diy-restoring-old-candles/
Thanks so much for the idea!
Nice!
Hey, thanks for sharing. I was trying to do something similar with my wife, and I wanted to get first-class candles like in the store apsley but unfortunately, it is not so simple. In General, the candles were nice, but you can see that the smell and shape is not so professional
That's awesome! You are sooo brilliant!
